Projects Under Integrated Biorefinaries

India has actively promoted integrated biorefineries to enhance sustainability and energy security while reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The government has implemented various initiatives to support the development of biofuels and green technologies. By focusing on second-generation (2G) and advanced biofuels, India has encouraged the establishment of integrated biorefineries that utilize agricultural residues, municipal waste, and non-food biomass. These refineries help in reducing waste, lowering carbon emissions, and supporting rural economies by providing alternative revenue streams for farmers.

To drive this transition, India has introduced policies such as the National Bio-Energy Mission, Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) program, and incentives for biofuel production. Additionally, research and innovation in enzymatic and microbial technologies have been supported to improve efficiency. Through strategic investments, collaborations, and policy interventions, India is fostering a robust bioeconomy, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable energy solutions.
