Technology Outline (Process Description)

People development in rural areas is crucial, and the advanced technologies needed to ensure the people’s livelihood security i.e., potable water is a healthy way to develop the society. The multi-stage desalination system is designed and developed for the waste water treatment capacity of 55 litres per day. The desalination system functionated with solar thermal energy, with four stages of the evaporator-condenser unit. In each stage, the plate’s top surface act as an evaporator and the bottom is the condenser. The system performance and yield was 76.44%, with 42.04kg/m2/day for the brackish water, which is 34% higher performance and 17.7% higher yield than the conventional system. The flow rate of the brackish water suitable for the system is 55-150 kg/m2/day due to the effective thin layer of water formation over the flow surface that increases the system’s distillate yield. The developed higher-yield desalination system may be suitable for residential areas, hotels, schools, universities, and public hubs.
