Subcategory (under Clean Energy): CCU
Technology Readiness Level (TRL): TRL 2-3
Technology Outline (Process Description)
- To identify, synthesize, characterize & experimentally investigate zero lead inorganic halide perovskites (ZL-IHPs)
- To identify selection criteria for the synthesis of a wide range of zero lead IHPs
- To develop novel scalable chemical routes for zero lead IHP synthesis
- To decoration of zero lead inorganic halide perovskite with co-catalysts
- To characterize the developed materials for physicochemical properties
Salient Features/Advantages
- Cesium Tin Iodide (CsSnI3) nano cuboids for CO2 utilization and conversion to solar fuels.
- Rapid Synthesis of CsBi3I10 nanowires for CO2 photoreduction to solar fuels.
- Natural sunlight induced photocatalytic CO2 reduction to green fuels over CH3NH3SnI3 nanoarchitects.
Key Outcomes
The project team has synthesized the tailored zero lead inorganic halide perovskites (ZL-IHPs) were based on frugal science principal and studied as potential candidates for CO2 conversion to value added products (solar fuels) in the form of methanol (CH3OH), methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrogen (H2) upon exposure to natural sunlight and artificial sources.
